Today in the Kitchen: Bread in a dutch oven

Crusty artisan breads have always been my favorites and so far, eluded me when it comes to baking them myself. I tried lots of different ways to get a pleasant crunch, anything from misting the oven to bricks soaked in water, but was never very satisfied with the results.
...and then recently i found something that changed my life forever.

Well, at least when it comes to bread baking....
Where have i been all this time?
This is what i love about baking and cooking! It's the same thing every day, yet it is always new. So many combos and techniques to discover.
This NY Times video introduced me to one of my new favorite breads... and it's baked in a dutch oven. It's so clever i wish i would have thought of it.

When he says a 4 year old could do it, it's really so true.

Another wonderful thing with this technique is that it's so flexible and there is no kneading.
You can literally put it together in 3 min. and then, within a 12 - 20 hour window, bake it off when you're ready. It almost becomes like a sourdough, and the longer you leave the dough, the more it ferments.
You can find  the full written recipe here.

Try it. You don't want to live your life without it for another day!

Even if you're new to baking bread, try it. All it takes is 6 ingredients, but mostly it takes practice.
Once you get your first loaf of golden brown goodness coming out of the oven you'll be hooked.
You'll feel like a genius.
